Salamander
Treks is based in Chamonix – the home of Alpine
mountaineering and trekking. Dominated by Mont Blanc there are hundreds
of snowy peaks and rocky spires that make Chamonix such a fabulous place
to have an adventure. We are only one hour from Geneva airport and our
local knowledge means you see the best of what the region has to offer.
We also run trips to other parts of the Alps and offer bespoke trips to
the Greater Ranges.
We have a range of trips to suit all abilities and each individual trip
description gives information on what to expect.
Alpine Walks All trips to the Alps should
include some walking and we offer a range of holidays from gentle walks
to tough treks. Our centre-base trip takes exhilarating day-walks from
our chalet while the tougher trips will include multi-day treks and the
possibility of climbing snow-capped Alpine trekking peaks.
Alpine Flowers In addition to wonderful
mountain views, fresh air and a calming environment, Alpine flowers are
one of the defining elements of an Alpine holiday. Our leaders are passionate
about flowers and take real delight in discovering meadows of colour or
seeking out an unusual-high altitude plant. We offer trips at different
times of year to fully appreciate the changing flora of the seasons.
Family Adventures We have families
ourselves and are aware that many of us who took adventurous holidays
in our 20’s and 30’s would like to continue this with our
children. We have different programs for young and teenage families.
Worldwide Program
We have been involved in organising treks to many other mountain ranges
for 14 years. Destinations have included Nepal, Ladakh, India, Pakistan,
Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Peru, Morocco and Slovakia. If you
are interested in going further afield please contact us for some ideas.
Our Staff We have been involved in running treks
and adventurous group holidays since 1992 and only employ fully qualified
International Mountain Leaders (IML) – a mark of quality and assurance
that sets us apart from other companies. The IML award represents the
highest level of qualification required to lead treks around the world:
in many European countries it is required by law.
Group size Most
of our groups have a minimum of 6 and maximum of 16 clients.
Travelling companions
Our clients are drawn together by a love of the outdoors and are represented
by all ages, many different professions and come from a number of different
countries. The ratio of singles to couples and men to women is normally
50:50.
Is it for me? If
you are reasonably fit, enjoy walking and mixing with like-minded people
then you should enjoy our holidays. Each of our trips has a description
of its difficulty so that you can be sure you have chosen the right trip
for you.
