Schools

Salamander Treks is based in Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc. We run a range of trips and are firmly dedicated to introducing and educating young people to the outdoors. We have over 15 years experience organising expeditions in Europe and the Rest of the World. Our aim is to provide safe, fulfilling and educationally valuable trips to all students in Secondary Education.

Itineraries & Flexibility

Chamonix and the surrounding Alps provide the perfect location for adventure holidays and field trips, particularly Geography, Geology and Biology. There are a huge variety of landscapes, cultural experiences and curriculum-based opportunities.

Aside from the curriculum-focused opportunities, Chamonix offers a wealth of other activities. These include scope for practicing French language skills, mountain biking, paragliding, walking, cable cars and day-trips to Italy and Switzerland.

We have some sample itineraries on this page, but are able to tailor trips to the specific time constraints and needs of the students.

Staff & Leaders

A number of our staff are ex-secondary school teachers and qualified International Mountain Leaders – the international benchmark for leading children’s groups in the mountains. Living in Chamonix, they all have extensive local knowledge and of the safety systems in place

Parents & Contact

We will assist in providing full information to parents in advance of a trip. We have 2 laptops and WIFI connection at our chalets.

Safety & Risk Assessments

All trips are run with safety in mind and are researched and assessed in advance of clients arriving. The chalet conforms to French fire, safety and hygiene standards and has current liability insurance cover. All staff have relevant qualifications and hold First-Aid certificates. The vehicles used are all locally registered and conform to French national standards. We provide generic and site-specific risk assessment for each daily activity.

Insurance

We are insured through Campbell Irvine Ltd who are underwritten by Lloyds. Our Tour Operator Liability insurance is £2,000,000 and can be increased at the request of the school.
